Each issue of Beautiful Fork Magazine features a set of dishes throughout the liturgical sections. The dishes above are from the Summer ‘10 issue. They are from the collection of Linda Rothermel of Belle Fourche, SD. These were her grandmother’s “good” dishes, so were not used everyday. Linda most fondly remembers the small desert bowls that were part of the set. |

Beautiful Fork is an ecumenical Christian magazine published quarterly — Winter, Spring, Summer, Autumn – and arranged to follow a familiar Order of Worship. This liturgical order follows the setting of a table, an everyday gift of service that families and friends offer to those they love. The simple act of placing the fork — for a loved one, a guest or a family member — is the symbol we have chosen to remind us of the life of service Christ has called us to live. Beautiful Fork magazine is known for its superb photography and contemplative writing. The magazine includes poetry, prayers, articles, narratives, skits and stories that are written as explorations of the scriptures for the season. These offer real-life ways that the teachings of the Bible intersect with our experiences. The photography in each issue is also vividly connected to the scripture, celebrating the natural beauty of our area and our people. Readers are encouraged to “live the benediction” with recipes, Sunday school ideas, service organization highlights, book reviews, and discussion guides provided in each issue. The magazine is also a charitable fundraiser, published by an ecumenical team who have a love for God, and also a love for writing, photography, art – and other people! Combining their variety of interests and talents, these volunteers work together to create this devotional magazine to raise money for charity – including such causes as One Great Hour of Sharing and Global Ministries – and to provide other charitable organizations the opportunity to earn money for their own missions. No advertisements are included in the magazine to maintain its devotional aspect, focused on scripture and service. We rely solely on sales of issues, subscriptions and sponsorships to cover printing/shipping costs — all other work is donated volunteer time! |
